These were made in Sony Vegas Pro 8. They're my first manips and I'm going to try to get better so I can make some really great ones! I'm working on some Trek TOS era ones right now and hopfully those will come out nicely. Anyway, thanks for looking!

The boys here hadn't actually kissed that many girls in the show, so I had to work around that little issue. Semi-inspired by Nicky's use of explicit footage in Climbing Up the Walls from VVC, I ended up taking some external porny source and spent a godawful amount of time masking the 2nd and 3rd kiss shots for vidding use. The one guy's hair is perfect Mohinder hair, but he was completely and utterly white... so I tried my best to fix that with After Effects. The raw video here is kind of unimpressive, but if you tweak the color (black and white, etc), it turns out a-OK when smooshed in a timeline. :-)

Anyway. Credit is not necessary, but it is appreciated. I hope someone gets some use out of the clips. If you feel so inclined, drop me a note in my journal if you end up using the clips. I love me Sylar/Mohinder vids.

Welcome to Open Source Kisses!

During vividcon 2008, astolat ran a panel entitled "The Two-Hour Kiss", in which she used Adobe AfterEffects and footage from Entourage to create a manipulated kiss between Eric and Vince. At the panel, it was suggested that as many fans as possible could create a kiss between their favourite pairing and donate the resulting clip to an open-source library of fannish kisses, free for distribution and use in vids, with credit to the kiss-creator.

astolat has generously offered the use of the clips she used for her Eric/Vince kiss and for her tutorial. She also recommends Vimeo as the best solution for distribution, since it has high-quality streaming, uploading and downloading, and the ability to password-protect content. Vimeo could be used in addition to any other place people upload their footage for sharing.

The hope for opensourcekiss is that we fen make for ourselves what the creators aren't giving us. (Doin' that crazy transformative thang we do!) There are, therefore, several goals for this community:

- To create a step-by-step guide that recreates the two-hour kiss tutorial;

- To challenge fandom to create as many kisses for as many pairings as possible;

- To hammer out some guidelines around credit, the degree of open-sourciness that each contributor wishes to set, and so on;

- To encourage people who have already created a kiss to upload their footage for other fen to use in their vids, with credit;

- To tag everything on this handy dandy delicious account;

- To interest the vidding community in expanding on the comm's potential for other types of manipulated footage and effects tutorials; and

- To make the comm prettier than it currently is! Volunteers welcome!

To that end, please comment with any and all questions, concerns, plots to take over the world, etc., as it pleases you.
